At Templefield, we envisage that learning a language enhance pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the wider world. We aim to equip pupils with language learning skills and ignite a passion for languages. This will provide a solid foundation for future language learning that will prepare pupils, both for life in modern Britain and work or study in other countries of the world. Through learning French, we aim for our pupils to be open minded, to develop an awareness of cultural differences and to celebrate diversity within society. In the classroom, we create an environment where there is an emphasis on mutual respect and where each child’s contribution and effort are encouraged, valued and celebrated. We provide opportunities to communicate orally and in the written form. Pupils are encouraged to perform, to play, to make links, to experiment, to have fun and to relish each new word, phrase and song. Pupils should gain enjoyment, pride and a sense of achievement through learning another language.
