Our learning environment

At Templefield Lower School we provide learning which meets the needs of every child. Like most schools we have a number of pupils who have additional educational needs. Such needs may include difficulties with:

  • Cognition and Learning
  • Communication and Interaction
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health
  • Sensory and Physical needs

Children with additional or special educational needs may need extra help and support from us and here at Templefield we have a dedicated team of support assistants and other adults who, alongside class teachers, will provide support for those children who have additional educational needs.

Please see our see our policy page for more information on how we identify and support the children's needs.

Our Learning Environment

Our school consists of 10 teaching classrooms, with additional various rooms designed for group work. Our aim is to ensure that every child's needs are met through Quality First Teaching in the classroom, but we understand that some children will need some time in an additional quiet space, which we can provide in and outside the classroom.

Each of our classrooms have:

- A whole class visual timetable

- A Calm Corner/ quiet space with various calm down activities and objects in

- A book corner

- Labelled drawers (some with pictures on for the younger children)

- Separate workstations (if needed) with individual visual timetables
