This year, each Year Group chose a high quality text with a multicultural theme to focus their week of activities. This not only gave the children a chance to engage in a range of reading comprehension activities but also enabled our children to learn about different cultures.
The documents below showcase some of the excellent work that was produced during the week.
We have celebrated World Book day differently this Year due but it has not meant that we have not been able to share our love for reading!
On the 4th March our children (at home and at school) dressed up as a favourite book character or had a pyjama day. They carried out book scavenger hunts and listened to stores recorded by the adults in school.
Finally the children were creative making a 'Book Scene in a Box' for our competition. You can see some of the amazing entries below. Well done to everybody that took part.
At the end of March (with all of our children back in school) we will be having our 'Book Week' where we will focus our learning on quality Multi Cultural stories.
We had a brilliant week celebrating our love of reading. There was so much going on! Each class had a visit to Flitwick library, we took part in a 'potato book character' competition, we had a reading cafe, bedtime stories, we all took part in a whole school story writing activity not to mention our vocabulary parade on world book day itself!
Enjoy looking at the photos below.....
Also, below are the 2 stories that we wrote as a whole school with each class writing a different part of the story.
