As part of European Day of Languages, the children followed the journey of 'Little Amal'. This is an amazing art project taking place across Europe between July and November. A puppet named 'Little Amal' is walking from Syria to the United Kingdom to raise awareness of the plight of refugees. As a way of celebrating this incredible journey, the pupils at Templefield have been busy learning about each of the countries Amal is visiting. Each class learnt about a different country on her journey, learnt some basic greetings in that language and produced a welcome poster for Amal from their designated country. It was a fantastic to hear so many different languages around the school and witness the enthusiasm of the pupils for learning about other languages and cultures. I even over heard a year two pupil teaching the tennis coach some Dutch the following morning! If you are interested in learning more about Amal's journey, you can follow her progress here.
