On 2nd March, our Year 1 football team played their first match against The Firs at Redborne.
All the players had great fun and displayed some super skills. Their teamwork was impressive and everyone showed respect towards the other team.
Well done to all the players - you did yourselves and the school proud.
After months of fundraising by Templefield Lower School’s PTA to help fund an outdoor play equipment project, a wonderful trim trail and bespoke dinosaur nest climber have been installed for the children at Templefield Lower to enjoy.
The trim trail, including a suspension bridge, rock traverse wall, balance beams and drop traverse ropes and dinosaur nest climber, with it’s exciting spider’s web, sparks the children’s imagination whilst offering challenging physical activity.
The play equipment is surrounded by bonded rubber mulch safety surfacing which enables the children to safely play on the equipment all year round.
Headteacher Debbie Trivett said “ We are delighted with the outcome of this project. Our PTA have worked incredibly hard to raise funds for this project and have held discos, cake sales, quiz nights a Christmas fayre and mufti days which have all been hugely successful and really well supported. Staff and Governors worked closely with local company, Setter Play Ltd, to produce exciting play equipment which all of our children can enjoy.”
We had some extra support with our fundraising thanks to nine-year-old twins Zac and Isla Hollinshead. They created a project, 'Templefield Market Garden', selling cherry tomato and sweet pepper plants which they had grown with the help of their green-fingered grandad.
Zac explained "I don't see very well and there are lots of things I can't do physically so my teachers have to work extra hard to help me be the best I can. I thought I'd dry and make some money for my school to help them with their fundraising as a way of saying thank you".
The children, who are leaving the school this summer at the end of Year 4, have grown, watered and talked to over 400 plants which they offered for sale after school at only £1 each. The sale was a hug success and has so far raised over £415 for new playground equipment.
Mrs Debbie Trivett, Headteacher, said "We were delighted to support Zac and Isla with this lovely idea. We are grateful to them, their Granddad and everyone who supported their Market Garden - we hope that everyone will be enjoying delicious fresh tomatoes and peppers this summer!"
