Welcome To Windmill Pre-School
Welcome to Windmill Pre-School where all children are supported in developing their potential as they take the first steps in their learning journey.
Established in 1983 pre-school merged with Templefield Lower School in 2020 and is now an integral part of the school with access to all of the school's facilities and expertise, including the advice and guidance of the Early Years teaching staff.
At pre-school we aim to develop your child's intellectual, social, physical and emotional skills. Our experienced team do this by offering fun and developmentally appropriate play activities. Play is essential for children's development, building their confidence as they learn to explore, to think about problems and relate to others.
Fostering a sense of belonging to the larger school family as we move around the school and take part in shared activities makes transition to school smoother when the time comes to move up to Reception.

Children have the opportunity to attend Windmill Pre-School from the start of the term in which they have their third birthday. Morning sessions are from 9am - 12 noon and afternoon sessions are from 12.30pm - 3.30pm. Children who attend for the whole day, from 9am to 3.30pm are required to bring a packed lunch.
All three and four year olds are entitled to a free early education place for 570 hours a year over no fewer than 38 weeks of the year (15 hours per week). This funding is available from the start of the term following their third birthday and will be paid up until the time when the child reaches statutory school age.
Some three and four year olds whose parents are working are entitled to 30 hours funded per week. Eligible two year olds are also entitled to an early education place from the start of the term following their second birthday. Parents have the opportunity to purchase additional hours and Childcare Vouchers are accepted.
In planning our activities we consider and promote the learning goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage - a statutory framework designed to promote and support early childhood development.
There are seven areas of learning and development identified within the framework that shape our educational programmes. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.
