Suspected cases of COVID-19
If you suspect your child has symptoms of COVID-19, they SHOULD NOT come to school. The main symptoms are:
A new, continuous cough
A high temperature
A loss or change to their normal sense of taste or smell
If your child develops symptoms during the school day, we will call you immediately to collect them. The staff and other children in their group are allowed to remain in school until the case is confirmed. Whilst they await collection, they will be placed in the medical room where they will be cared for by a member of staff. Please be aware that personal protective equipment (PPE) will be worn by the member of staff caring for the child.
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms must self-isolate for 10 days and other members of their household should self-isolate for 14 days. All pupils attending school are entitled to a test which can be obtained through the NHS 111 online service. If the test is negative, they will be able to return to school and the rest of the family will be able to end their self-isolation. If the test is positive you must inform the school immediately.
In the case of a positive test result, all staff and pupils in the affected person's group will be sent home and asked to self-isolate for 14 days. The rest of their household will not need to self-isolate unless the child develops symptoms. In this case, they should be tested too.
